For many young people, international travel can feel out of reach due to limited exposure, financial barriers, and a lack of information or guidance. Passports to Possibility was created to help close that gap. Through cultural education, hands-on preparation, mentorship, and fully funded international experiences, the program gives young people the access, knowledge, and support to experience the world for themselves while building the confidence to navigate unfamiliar environments, engage with other cultures, and see international travel as something that is possible for them.
How Do We Do It?
Passports to Possibility begins by partnering with a local high school, university, or youth-serving organization to recruit a cohort of students who commit to the full program journey. Throughout the year, students participate in workshops, complete assignments and reflections, and build the practical and cultural knowledge needed to travel internationally with confidence.
At the same time, GFI raises funds to make the international experience fully funded for selected students. Based on available funding and successful completion of program requirements, students are selected to travel, where learning continues through cultural immersion, guided reflection, and real-world problem solving. After returning home, participants complete the journey by reflecting on their experience and finding ways to share what they learned with their communities.
